The Senior Provincial (Semi-Professional) competition has as its primary purpose the development of young talented players to take part in highly competitive competitions across two formats. The Senior Provincial competition is played between all 12 Affiliates and KZN Inland. Namibia takes part by invitation. The Senior Provincial competition has first-class status and, therefore, contributes to the overall first-class, List A and T20 statistics of a player.

The two different formats are:

Provincial 3-Day competition

Provincial 1-Day competition (50 overs)

In addition, the provinces all take part in the Africa Cup T20 competition that also includes representative teams from Kenya, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The flagship team of Amateur Cricket, the North West Dragons, continue producing quality players for the franchise.
